Noosphere: The Next Stage in the Evolution of Human Consciousness, A Testimony
To mark the recent passing of José Argüelles, we offer an excerpt from his upcoming book Manifesto for the Noosphere: The Next Stage in the Evolution of Human Consciousness, available from Evolver Editions/North Atlantic Books in October 2011.
EXCERPT:
We must enlarge our approach to encompass the formation taking place before our eyes … of a particular biological entity such as has never existed on earth-the growth, outside and above the biosphere, of an added planetary layer, an envelope of thinking substance, to which, for the sake of convenience and symmetry, I have given the name of the Noosphere. –Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, The Future of Man
Manifesto for the Noosphere is the result of forty years of study, contemplation, investigation, and synthesis. While the noosphere may be beyond the grasp of conventional science, it is a deep and pervasive intuition that has gripped the minds of scientists, philosophers, poets, and artists since the concept first emerged in 1926. It is an evolutionary concept posited by studies in both biogeochemistry and paleontology. It is a whole-systems paradigm that melds prophecy and analysis of current world trends. It is a perception that the transformation of the biosphere is inevitably leading to a new geological epoch and evolutionary cycle, and it is due to the impact of human thought on the environment that this new era — the Noosphere — is dawning.

This is a world-class film, exquisitely produced and thoughtfully scripted. This is the real deal and is consistent with everything that has been poking into the public consciousness for decades.
US started trying to shoot them down in 1952–this is about as smart as the Spanish declaring any indigenous peoples who did not speak Spanish to be heathens subject to enslavement. Lost so many pilots the order finally rescinded in 1954 or so.
Many excellent interviews with a range of serious people.
The Roswell alien crash was directly associated with US early nuclear endeavors probably being “scouted” by concerned aliens.
Most disturbing is the lengths that US and UK governments went to drug and otherwise disorient and silence direct witnesses who were not “cleared” to be aware of extra-terrestial matters.
Brazilian and Russian reports suggest alien activity in “containing” effects of early nuclear explosions.
Mexico is so focused that a two-hour prime time show covers UFOs once a week.
Norway has world’s only full-time UFO spotting and assessing station (Hessdalen)
Excellent discussion of both alien collection (e.g. two ton slab of earth cut and lifted with no evidence of heavy equipment) and alien concern over Homo Sapiens combination of nuclear weapons, violent nature, and early space exploration. Specific discussion of alien interventions to cause offensive missile malfunction as well as “shut down” of missiles on alert….
Relationship of media to intelligence explored in a very negative manner–fast forward to 9/11! National Enquirer bought out by CIA front company to sensationalize and marginalize extra-terrestial material.
Bleeding-edge thinking is that Homo Sapiens is a hybrid possibly altered from earliest days of emergence. Covers abductions, surgical procedures, samples with focus on reproductive organs. Babies, toddlers described in various forms of human to alien mixtures. Abductees who have children see the children abducted in turn, as if the aliens are doing generational studies.
As many as 60 distinct alien “types” are believed to exist, playing many different roles across many different types of human groups and activities.
“Truth Embargo” implemented 62 years ago is coming to an end. Classification is an obstacle, and especially so in NASA of all places. The truth will come out. This is the story of the Millenium. It will change virtually every paradigm across every science *and* (even more importantly) our cosmic/social paradigms.
A “must see” film.

I read and reviewed this book when it came out in hard-copy, and I continue to be very annoyed with Amazon for its policy of deleting best in class reviews from the past so as to encourage new reviewers–they would be better off deleting the least useful review, but they seem motivated by a desire to give the new reviewers a chance to achieve rankings (hence, deleting least useful reviews does not meet the need, but deleted high value reviews of high performance reviewers does).
What I remember most clearly from the book is CONSISTENCY. Across all the encounters, all the accounts, all the investigations, there was a distinct, scientifically-validated consistency in all of the descriptions, effects, etcetera. This was the first book I was able to find that combined reputable scientific inquiry with a massive cross-section of stories from around the world, and that impressed me greatly.

The Original Surveyor of Distance Education and Virtual Learning
January 23, 2010
G. Parker Rossman
My original review of this book seems to have vanished into thin air here at Amazon.
G. Parker Rossman and his book came into my life just after I started the international conference on “National Security & National Competitiveness: Open Source Solutions,” and both the book and the World Brain discussion group that he co-founded were extremely influencial in my recognition that the ultimate outcome for a re-appreciation of open sources instead of secret sources was a global networked “world brain.”
From my point of view, he was the first serious scholar to comprehensively begin documenting what could be learned online, and the first–at a time when fewer than 10% of those who could afford a computer were actually online–to really begin outlining the possibilities for both distance education and virtual learning.
It was as a direct result of his influence through this book that Gottfried Mayer-Kress spoke to the conference in 1997 on the topic of the World Brain, and that was when the entire modern Open Source Intelligence movement took a decisive turn away from helping the US Government get a grip on reality, and toward connecting and empowering all multinational sources of information for the good of all.
I have listed both this author and Gottfried Mayer-Kress in the World Brain line-up that runs from H. G. Wells through Vannavar Bush to today’s proponents for Collective Intelligence, the World Brain, and a Global Game in which we all play ourselves and all of us have access to “true cost” information in all languages all the time.
Here are ten other books I recommend with this one, I have reviewed and summarized all of them:

THIS IS A ‘MUST BUY” FOR ANYONE WHO CARES…
Tom Atlee, author of The Tao of Democracy: Using Co-Intelligence to Create a World That Works for All has been moved at this particular point in time to present to all of us with an extraordinary collection of short stories and paired poems that develope a very important new theme, that of Evolutionary Activism.
There is no other person who has had more influence on the activities of Robert Steele and the various endeavors of OSS.Net, Inc. and its multinational conferences (1992-2006) as well as the follow-on Earth Intelligence Network, a 501c3 Public Charity pioneering the modern World Brain with embedded Global Game.
The bottom line: intelligence professionals (and politicians and policy professionals, but one thing at a time) should stop trying to produce answers and instead focus on producing a process that connects all stakeholders with both one another and with all of the relevant information including especially historical, cultural, and anticipatory information.
Below, honoring Tom and his gifted integration of science, spirtuality, and sacredness, is our blurb offered for the dust jacket, and our review. There is also a link to our rough Word Table, a device we use for the most serious books of import to the future of civilization.
I cannot do this inspiring book justice. I see it as a manifesto, a handbook–a gift of love and truth like no other. Tom Atlee, one of a handful of pioneers in the collective intelligence arena, offers all of us a launch point for what he calls evolutionary activism–thought and action that result in conscious evolution of both the individual and society. He stresses that the many tipping point crises that now threaten us (most of our own making) are in fact the perfect environment for calling us out to be creative, innovative, and adaptive. He points to three evolutionary dynamics guidance: the integration of diversity; a constant alignment with reality; and the harmonization of self-interest with the wellbeing of the whole. A marvelous tour of the emerging evolutionary activist landscape. – Robert Steele, CEO Earth Intelligence Network, #1 Amazon non-fiction reviewer

Evolutionary Activism Takes On New Life
December 6, 2009
Duane Elgin
I was led to this book by Tom Atlee, whose earlier book, The Tao of Democracy: Using Co-Intelligence to Create a World That Works for All completely redirected my thinking in positive directions, and whose new book on Reflections on Evolutionary Activism (soon on Amazon, now at the Public Intelligence Blog) pointed me toward this book as well as Nonzero: The Logic of Human Destiny, Holistic Darwinism: Synergy, Cybernetics, and the Bioeconomics of Evolution and other books on cultural evolution.
In the face of the almost complete collapse of the post-World War II political, economic, and social paradigms (see my free chapter on Paradigms of Failure at the Public Intelligence Blog or within Election 2008: Lipstick on the Pig (Substance of Governance; Legitimate Grievances; Candidates on the Issues; Balanced Budget 101; Call to Arms: Fund We Not Them; Annotated Bibliography), I feel POSITIVE, and this book and the many human minds and hearts this book represents are the reason I am confident that Conscious Evolution: Awakening Our Social Potential and Integral Consciousness and the Future of Evolution are on the immediate horizon.
Paul Hawkin’s captures the spirit of WHY this book on the Living Universe matters–his most recent book, Blessed Unrest: How the Largest Movement in the World Came into Being and Why No One Saw It Coming is the tip of the iceberg.
The greatest value for me of this book is that it is a superb overview of many different concepts from both science and the world of religion–this is a sense-making book not a simple book.

Though it may seem an unlikely location to happen upon a conference on astrobiology, the Vatican recently held a “study week” of over 30 astronomers, biologists, geologists and religious leaders to discuss the question of the existence of extraterrestrials. This follows the statement made last year by the Pope’s chief astronomer, Father Gabriel Funes, that the existence of extraterrestrials does not preclude a belief in God, and that it’s a question to be explored by the Catholic Church. The event, put on by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, took place at the Casina Pio IV on the Vatican grounds from November 6-11. . . . . . . .
“Just like there is an abundance of creatures on earth, there could also be other beings, even intelligent ones, that were created by God. That doesn’t contradict our faith, because we cannot put boundaries to God’s creative freedom. As saint Francis would say, when we consider the earthly creatures to be our “brothers and sisters”, why couldn’t we also talk about a “extraterrestrial brother”? He would still be part of creation.”

UFOs and the National Security State: Chronology of a Coverup, 1941-1973
Amazon Reviewer M. Packo: Mr. Dolan’s perspective on how a better understanding of UFOs has been obfuscated and frustrated by agencies within our government, as well as much of our national media, conjoined of course, is presented efficiently and without distortion or cant. His summary of 25 years’ worth of global UFO sightings alone makes this a valuable reference book. Combined with other developments related to the elaboration of our national security apparatus – domestic and international – this study achieves truly authoritative status. This is a book that every student of American history should read, regardless of their opinion about UFOs.
The Cover-Up Exposed, 1973-1991 (UFOs and the National Security State, Vol. 2)
Amazon Reviewer Juan Ordonez: The second volume of the planned trilogy of “Ufo’s & The National Security State” follows the methodical coverage of the UFO events in America and other parts of the world between 1973 to 1991. As in the first volume, the narrative is fluid and well organized, making it a page turner. The cases and reports exposed are not just interesting but also well referenced. Dolan clearly delineates when a case is fully supported or is just unproven (but suggestive). In addition, Dolan presents a parallel account of world wide events that might have been affected by the narrative of the UFO cases covered by the book. Although the book follows the chronological account of cases as in the first volume, this volume hints at a possible evolution of the UFO narrative (or folklore, depending on the reader) in consonance with the rise of corporate power as the main factor of power in the developed world. This second volume, as the first does not look for a direct and simple answer to a multifaceted issue such as the UFO’s, instead presents the existing evidence about the most relevant cases and allows the reader to shape an informed opinion.
Has Warts But On Balance, Best Available Overview
This book will seriously annoy those who consider themselves scientific rationalists (e.g. Voltaire’s Bastards: The Dictatorship of Reason in the West and those who tend to look askance, as I do, and the kum-ba-ya hand-holding crowd BUT–and this is a big but–I absolutely consider this author and this book to be totally credible, and as annoying as the inner spirituality conversations at the beginning and the cosmic spirituality conversations at the end are, this book is a MUST READ for any serious person who cares about the future of humanity and the Earth. I take some of this with a grain of salt, but I want to meet this person, learn more, and believe he is on a righteous path of truth for the good of the larger group, humanity.
